The Lorée Oboe D’Amore (Oboe of Love) has a less assertive and a more tranquil and serene voice. This instrument is often used to implement mellow and tender feelings in Baroque music.

The Lorée Oboe D’Amore is slightly larger than a regular Oboe. Pitched in A with its pear-shaped bell and its slightly bent bocal, the Oboe D’Amore sounds a minor third lower than the Oboe and plays a minor third lower in sound.

Because of the fullness and richness of tone in this instrument, a Lorée Oboe is often required to play solos or dominant roles in symphony orchestras.
